Casdagli Basilica A Toro

The Basilica Line was created to honour the great patriarch of the Casdagli family who established the family Egyptian cotton business – Emmanuel Casdagli. His portrait adorns Basilica Line’s cigar band.

Basilica became the chosen name for the line as the word Basilica comes from the ancient Greek term meaning “Royal House” – invoking Emmanuel’s Villa Casdagli.

The Basilica Line was inspired by Casdagli Cigar’s Saudi Arabian clients who were looking for a cigar blend to pair with oriental teas and Arabic citrus tasting cuisine. The “flared” foot of the Basilica Line cigars are designed this way so as to lead the smoker gently into the full bodied flavors emitted by the rich binder leaves of these cigars. Perfect for an after dinner smoke.

The Casdagli Basilica gets its name from the massive canon used by the Ottomans during the siege of Constantinople in the 15th century. The foot of the Basilica is shaped to resemble a canon when fired. This unique foot design also serves as way to ease the smoker into the Basilica’s full-bodied flavors. The Casdagli Basilica is available in two blends. The Basilica “A” is blended with the prized Bonao leaf. The Basilica “C” uses a blend composed of up to 7 distinct tobaccos. Both blends were specially selected by Hendrik Kelner Jr. of the famous Kelner family of Master Blenders at the KBF factory, which is located in the Dominican Republic.
