Steve Saka has been known to avoid clich’s. For instance, when he finally caved to the pressure of making a lancero vitola, he named it #NLMTHA, for ‘Now Leave Me the Hell Alone.’ He does things his way, so creating a mellow Connecticut-shade cigar proved to be a daunting task. Most aficionados who reach for a Sobremesa aren’t as interested in the same-old Connecticuts with their bitter, grassy profiles, so he looked to the past.

Saka sampled several mainstay Connecticut cigars to come up with the blend for the Sobremesa Brulee, a cigar that’s at the same time classic and contemporary. A luxurious Connecticut shade wrapper grown under natural cloud cover in Ecuador sits atop a Mexican Matacapan Negro de Temporal binder, with a carefully selected Nicaraguan filler blend. The flavors are all classic Connecticut, with extra complexity and refinement that can only come from the high-quality ingredients hand-selected by Saka himself. Connoisseurs and casual hobbyists alike take note: the mellow nutty flavors hearken back to the glory days of Connecticut, and will be right at home in any humidor.
